Description:

Working in a safe and trusting environment creates a bond between you (as the leader) and your team.

Here are the 3 hacks mentioned:

  1. As a leader, you draw a circle of safety net around your community / online team.
  2. Divvy up tasks so you can or everyone in your team can concentrate on a specific task by providing tools.
  3. Have common values and beliefs, strive to protect one another and use resources to make progress.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey everyone. It’s me again, Pam plumbing, Tia, and I am the CEO of great work online. And I just want to pop in here to talk about leadership. Your team feels safe with you. You know, when you are a leader, when you are the CEO of your, of your company, you want to feel, you want your, your team members to feel safe, working with you. And as a leader, you draw a circle of safety within your community. And this community is your family within your company. And these are your team members. So if you have that, that ability to make your team members feel safe, working with you, they will feel more motivated. They will use all their resources to help each other. And I do understand that, you know, when, when you have the type of leadership, it makes the work environment more, more happy.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Okay. You know everybody feels happy. Everybody feels like energized every morning when they wake up. I remember yesterday I, we always have this weekly catch up meeting every every Monday I do have a catch-up meeting with all of my project managers on. We are growing. We recently hired a new project manager and I was talking with them, you know, the reason why I also make it a point that we do qualify the clients that come on board to great work online is to make sure that we work with clients that we are happy to work with. I remember I read somewhere that if your clients qualify you as a vendor, you should also qualify your clients to make sure that you like working with them. You have that rapport. So I mentioned to, to my project managers that I want you guys to, you know, feel that every day, when you wake up in the morning, you feel energized.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
You, you want to get out of your bed and feel excited to work on your client’s project. And that is what I, I believe that we are, you know implementing here at great work online because as it really makes a difference. And if team members feel that they are safe working with you, they will just, you know, do everything fast, accurately, and they will not feel scared to reach out to you and ask questions. You know, you, you divvy up tasks, so you can, you can focus on specific task and or everyone in your, in your team members to concentrate on what is assigned to them. And you want to give your team member a specific tasks based on their strengths because when they do, and when you assign a team member, a task based on their strengths, the task will just be amazing.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
I mean, the outcome will be the outcome that you want, and they will feel safe. They know that, that they are working on something that stimulates their mind. They work on something that will, that they know they will deliver accurately. They will deliver the task amazingly. So you, you want to make sure that you are a divvying up task based on your team members team members, strengths, and you want to have that, that common values and beliefs within your team. And because when, when they do, when you, your team members, your project managers, your VA’s whoever’s in your team have, you know, share the same value and beliefs. They strive to protect one another. They strive to, to, to protect one another. They use all the resources to make progress. I remember there’s this instant we’re in. We had an issue with a Instagram, and for some reason, her account is the only thing that is not working properly from the platform that we are using to schedule tasks and my project manager you know, this, this client was posting, but until now she is posting IgE story for what, four times a day.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
And so, because it is in in Pacific time zone, it’s so difficult to do that manually. And for those people, for those business owners who own an agency and handle several social media accounts, I’m pretty sure you know, that having a tool to schedule your client’s posts is like gold for us, right. Especially if you are dealing with clients in different time zones. So for some reason, this client specific client, her Instagram account isn’t working well of course, eventually we figured out what’s wrong, but for like several days, I think my project manager was what T did was, you know, he set his alarm and he would set an alarm on the time that that Instagram story needs to be out. And that means waking up in the middle of the night at 1:00 AM, I think, or 12, midnight, and 3:00 AM my time.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
So that it is around noon time on the client’s side of the world. So prior to that, you know, the team worked together. And I didn’t know that when, when that happened the project manager told me after it has been resolved. And the good thing about that, the, the point that I want to make is if you feel, if you make your team member feel that they are safe, they will do, they will walk the extra mile to make progress, to take care of your client. And I am so proud of, of that project manager who did that. And when I learned that, I was like, why didn’t you tell me, you know, that you can reach out to me and we can talk about this. We can figure out what’s wrong. And you know we can make it work without you setting an alarm and waking up in the middle of the night because you need your rest.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
You need to recharge. And I am so a big fan of you need to recharge. You need to take a day off. You need to really have your weekend for your family. You need to recharge, you know, things like that. And the response was, I don’t want this is a small thing that I know I can fix. And I know you are doing, you know, more more important tasks for our clients, and I don’t want you to bug with it. And he said, I know I was confident that I can make this work. I can work this with the rest of the team. I can make it work with the client and the client knows. And, you know, after that, it just, it was amazing. It was an amazing experience. The, the client feels valued. And I feel that the commitment of not just by that project manager, but the rest of the team members that we have here at Greek work online, I feel that they are committed and passionate with what they do.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I would like to believe that we were able to build that culture of safety here at great work online. So if you can do the same thing with your own business, it really makes a difference. It, you, you, you, you need to treat your, your team as your family, and it will just bring out wonders. It just makes every project amazing. And the communication is there. And the, the outcome is your clients will be taken care of without you asking them, or, you know, forcing them to, to do it. It’s just like automatic. So that is something that I want to share with you guys. Think about how, how you deal with your team members. What is the culture that you were able to build within your company? Does your, your team feel safe working with you because working in a safe and trusting environment creates a bond between you and your team members between you as a leader and your team.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
So think about that and analyze what you have. What I learned from doing this for 11 years is that having that regular catch-up with their team, that seal the deal, it seals the bond you know, the, that the communication is there and your team will feel safe working with you. That’s it for today, guys, I just want to pop in here and it’s been a long time. I’ve been procrastinating, procrastinating, and you know, it’s been a busy, busy months for us onboarding clients and all of that, but I would just want to share that with you. It just, you know, came up and I just want to share it too. Is you think about it? Does your team feel safe working with you? That’s it for today? I will catch you again next time. Thank you guys. Bye.
